About Us

Nexus Advisernet (formerly known as Nexus Risk Services) was established in Bunbury in 1980. During this period Nexus Risk Services grew to a team of over 40 skilled professionals across Sydney, Perth, Albany, Geraldton, and Bunbury.

In 2022 Nexus Risk Services partnered with Insurance Advisernet which provided their advisers the opportunity to purchase their portfolios. These advisers are now part of a growing network which has over 275 insurance advice practices, spans over 150 locations in Australia / New Zealand, collectively manages $1.8 billion in premium and serves over 140,000 clients.

Operating under the name Nexus Advisernet, the former Nexus Risk Advisers continue to collaborate as one, to continue a culture committed to maintaining the exceptional service standards. This is shown in Bunbury where Chris Michell (Jarrisha Pty Ltd), has teamed up with Sellena Jones (Chaharlia Pty Ltd) and Debbie Sills (WestCover Pty Ltd) to maintain the same operational dynamic for Bunbury as forged by the former Nexus Risk Services.

Chris Michell

Chris has over 34 years of experience in the insurance industry, 30 of which have been in regional areas. His career has included stretches as a Regional Manager with some of Australia’s largest insurers. Chris returned to insurance advising when he joined Nexus Risk Services in October 2001. He has continued servicing clients in the Bunbury branch since 2005 and has broad expertise in all lines of insurance.

When he is not working, Chris enjoys mountain biking, surfing and playing golf. He also loves to spend time with his kids and family.

Something you probably wouldn’t know about Chris, is that he has ridden the Cape to Cape (250 km of trails) in one weekend, following it up with the Augusta Anaconda Adventure Race four days later.

Chris values community by offering his time as a volunteer, which has seen him become a life member of his cricket club and reside on a school board.

Riley Miguel

Adviser

Riley is been in the insurance industry for three years, after twelve years in the mining industry in a wide range of roles relating to maintenance supervision and coordination.

He has qualified in insurance advising competencies and is working toward his Diploma Of Financial Services (Insurance Advising) whilst servicing his own book of growing clients in the South West region and beyond. He is committed to providing clear, honest, and transparent advice, ensuring you’re informed about your insurance requirements and have a suitable program in place to offset your risk exposures. He understands insurance is one step only in risk mitigation.

He is a proud father of two young boys, and enjoys spending time with his loved ones as well as actively pursuing personal interests, including cricket and golf.
