About Us

Nexus Advisernet (formerly known as Nexus Risk Services) was established in Bunbury in 1980. During this period Nexus Risk Services grew to a team of over 40 skilled professionals across Sydney, Perth, Albany, Geraldton, and Bunbury. 

In 2022, Nexus Risk Services partnered with Insurance Advisernet. These Advisers are now part of a growing network which has over 275 insurance advice practices, across 150 locations in Australia / New Zealand. Collectively managing $1.8 billion in premium and partnering with over 140,000 clients.

Chris Michell, has over 35 years of industry experience, including 25 years with Nexus Risk Services. As an Authorised Representative under Insurance Advisernet, Chris continues to uphold the high service standards established by Nexus Risk Services, and maintains strong collaborative ties across Bunbury and the Southwest region, with a shared commitment to service excellence.

Working closely alongside Chris, Riley Miguel brings fresh energy to the team and plays an active role in supporting our valued new and existing clients.

Chris Michell

Chris brings over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, including three decades supporting clients across regional Western Australia. His career has encompassed senior leadership roles as a Regional Manager with some of Australia’s largest insurers. Returning to advising in 2001, when he joined Nexus Risk Services in Geraldton. He has continued serving clients in Bunbury since 2005.

Chris has extensive expertise across all classes of general insurance and is highly regarded for his ability to tailor risk solutions to meet the unique needs of businesses and individuals.

A strong supporter of his local community, Chris has volunteered extensively in both local and regional representative junior cricket and is a proud Life Member of the Colts Cricket Club.

Outside of work, he enjoys exploring mountain bike trails, playing golf and ‘rolling the arm over’ in local cricket. Chris and his wife, Shannon, enjoy spending time with family and friends and regularly visit their two adult children, who are both studying physiotherapy in Perth.

Riley has been in the insurance industry for four years, after twelve years in the mining industry in a wide range of roles relating to maintenance supervision and coordination.

He has qualified in insurance advising competencies and has completed a Diploma of Financial Services (Insurance Broking), whilst servicing his own book of growing clients in the Southwest region and beyond. He is committed to providing clear, honest, and transparent advice, ensuring you’re informed about your insurance requirements and have a suitable program in place to offset your risk exposures. He understands insurance is one step only in risk mitigation.

He is a proud father of two young boys, and enjoys spending time with his loved ones, as well as actively pursuing personal interests, including cricket and golf.

  • Provide you with the Insurer’s Claim Form
  • Arrange for the Loss Assessor to be appointed if applicable
  • Advise you on the completion of the Claim Form
  • Submit the Claim Form to the Insurer on your behalf
  • Provide advice to ensure you have received your full entitlements
